媽祖展現的慈愛、悲憫、寬容、親和等內涵，以及庇護著苦難蒼生的精神，正是普羅眾生信仰媽祖、也是「台灣媽祖聯誼會」創會的原因。因此，大甲鎮瀾宮於民國九十年，以具體的行動，邀請全台主要媽祖宮廟，籌組台灣媽祖聯誼會，並由大甲鎮瀾宮副董事長鄭銘坤榮任創會會長；新港奉天宮董事長何達煌、南方澳南天宮主委陳正男任副會長。幾年來，各會員宮廟相互扶持，聯繫情誼。
