日據時代，寶泉第一代陳允先生在豐原現今市區三角街仔賣糕餅。傳至第二代陳金泉先生繼承父業，每天背著兩籮糕餅去東勢沿街叫賣。1940年時，陳金泉先生帶僅有的現金31塊還有一包糖遠赴日本工作因緣際會，陳金泉先生學會了製作麻糬的方法與技術，便在東京賣起【大福麻糬】因為陳金泉先生所製作的大福麻糬，手工巧、口味實在，所以大受歡迎。慢慢的從店舖做到工廠進而大量批發；靠著一包糖在日本逐漸打響了名號
